Jack Teixeira, who is suspected of being the main person behind the so-called Pentagon leak, has appeared before the court. He is accused there of “unauthorized dissemination of classified material”.
The federal judge in Boston ordered Teixeira to remain in custody.
The FBI arrested the 21-year-old Teixeira late Thursday. He is a member of the Air National Guard, an active leader on the chat forum Discord, and is said to be fascinated by weapons.
