The vandalism happened Dec. 18, around 9:45 pm at a business in the 700 block of Campbell Street, police said in a news release.
The tires on customers’ vehicles were slashed and paint was scratched, police said, noting no motive was apparent “aside from the senseless act of vandalism.”
The suspect left the property and headed north on Ontario Street, police said.
Damage is estimated between $30,000 and $40,000, police said.
A suspect is described as wearing a black jacket, baggy black pants, a gray hood over their head, a dark face covering, black and white gloves, and was holding a small blade, police said.
Other businesses in the area are asked to check vehicles on their property for similar damage, and businesses and residents in the area are asked to check cameras for recordings of the suspect, police said.

Retail theft blitz results in 12 arrests
Steaks, clothing and other items that can be resold on the street were among the $2,500 in stolen items Sarnia police say they recovered during a four-day shoplifting enforcement blitz.
The Dec. 4-5, and Dec. 10-11 blitz resulted in 10 people being charged — twice, after they were released and charged again days later, police said in a news release.
Most were charged with shoplifting, one had an outstanding arrest warrant for assault and forcible confinement, and another was found with fentanyl and charged with possession, police said.
One arrested had a “shopping list” of items that they were to steal, in order to trade for illegal narcotics, police said.
Many of the accused possessed small quantities of illegal drugs when arrested, “demonstrating the common nexus between drug and property crime offenses” police said in the release.
The blitz was held to address community concerns about theft and “to enhance both customer and employee safety,” police said.
