Suspect in Chatham home invasion robbery arrested

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man sought in a home-invasion robbery in March on Fairview Line in Chatham.

Michael VanDusen, 39, was arrested Saturday afternoon on Stanley Street in Chatham, police said Monday.

VanDusen was wanted on the following charges:

  • Breaking, entering and committing robbery
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Wearing a disguise with intent
  • Two counts of failing to comply with a release order
  • Five counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.

Police said two people wearing disguises forcibly entered a home on Fairview Line at about 8:20 pm on March 25. The intruders demanded money and left with several items. The homeowners were not injured, police said.

Van Dusen was taken to police headquarters, where he was held for a bail hearing.

He was remanded into custody and was scheduled to be in court Monday, police added.

Two people already face charges in the robbery. Marcus VanDusen, 41, and John Hamilton, 45, both of Chatham, are charged with possession of property obtained by a crime worth less than $5,000, possession of a stolen credit card and fraud of less than $5,000.
