In the ice hockey league PWHL, Minnesota took the second final game with clear scores and tied the series at 1–1. Boston must succeed in the away bowl next.
Susanna Tapani Boston failed to take another shot at the PWHL championship as Minnesota took the teams’ second finals meeting 3–0.
Minnesota scored two goals in two minutes in the opening set. Michela Cava responded like in the first game for the opening hit of the match, followed by the defender Sophie Jacques increased the away team’s lead.
Jaques also finished the match’s final readings in the third period into an empty net. The Canadian defender was just traded from Boston to Minnesota in February, and Tapani moved in the other direction in the trade.
The second meeting of the final series progressed in spite of the final score. Minnesota took the shots in the match 23-20, and Boston was able to play with superiority four times.
After the match, Tapani lamented the inefficiency of his team.
– Today he didn’t bounce in, even though there were chances to score. This is playoff hockey and the matches are closed for small reasons, Tapani commented to Urheilu.
A rare home loss for Boston
With the loss, Boston fans were forced to leave the Tsongas Center without a home win – the first time in over three months.
Boston last lost at home on February 19, when Ottawa was better by a score of 4-2.
Despite the defeat, the Finnish striker tried to turn his eyes to the future.
– It’s never nice to lose, of course, but that’s part of sport. Now let’s deal with this game, let’s move on to the next match and forget the loss quickly. I don’t think this game will affect the next one.
The first two games of the series were played in Boston, and the next series moves to Minnesota for two games. Three fixtures are required for the championship, so Tapan’s Boston needs at least one win away from home to fight for the championship.
The third match of the final series will be played the night before Saturday Finnish time.
