Officers began investigating a male in March amid allegations of trafficking, procuring and coercing a female to provide sexual services, Sarnia police said in a release Friday. A suspect was arrested Wednesday.

Glendon Larmond, 42, of Georgetown, is charged with human trafficking, receiving a financial or other material benefit, forcible confinement, communicating for the purpose of obtaining sexual services, material benefit from sexual services, procuring, and advertising sexual services, police said.
He was held pending a bail hearing, remanded in custody and was to appear in court Friday morning. His next court date wasn’t available at press time Friday.

Survivors can seek information from the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Center Sarnia-Lambton at 519-337-3154, Victim Services of Sarnia-Lambton at 519-344-8861, the local Salvation Army at 519-344-1142, the Women’s Interval Home of Sarnia Lambton at 519-336-5200, or the Canadian Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-833-900-1010.
Human trafficking is when people are coerced, tricked, kept, or moved by individuals for a person to make money, police said.
“(It) can take many forms, including forced labor and sexual exploitation,” they added. “Sex trafficking involves the exploitation of individuals through force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts.”
