About 20 relatives and 14 survivors of the Estonia disaster are asking for a preliminary investigation into murder after 852 people died in connection with the sinking of the ferry, reports Echo.
– It is a report about a murder I have committed, therefore we are turning to the highest efforts within the legal system, to get an answer and reduce the suffering, says survivor Anders Eriksson to Ekot.
They have turned to the public prosecutor and want the police and prosecutors to take care of a few bodies that are well preserved and lying on the bottom next to the wreck.
– They are not tasked with recovering bodies or taking care of the dead, so a report is needed, says Linnea Karlsson, whose mother died in Estonia.
