It was on January 21 that two men robbed two other men in an apartment on Baltzargatan. The robbers pretended to be craftsmen and in that way were allowed into the home.
The robbers were stabbed
In connection with the robbery, there was a commotion, and one of the victims got hold of a kitchen knife and stabbed the two robbers, who fled the scene. One was stabbed so badly that he later died.
Outside the house was a third person, who acted as a driver and who also bought the work clothes and a hammer. He drove the injured robbers to Scania University Hospital in Lund, where they were arrested by the police. A few days later, the driver was also arrested.
Bought as an emergency
Initially, both crime victims were suspected of murder and attempted murder. The suspicions were dropped, however, because the prosecutor considered that they acted in self-defence.
The robber who survived and who was inside the apartment has confessed. The driver, however, has denied any wrongdoing. But the Malmö district court believes that there is several pieces of evidence, partly in the form of a mobile phone, partly it is considered proven that he bought the clothes that were used in the robbery.
– All in all, the district court considers that there can be no doubt that the driver had a completely different role than what he wanted to play. His actions are to be considered accomplices, says chief councilor Anna Täcklind in a press release.
In addition to the prison sentence, the men must pay damages of SEK 133,000 to both plaintiffs.
