ARK: Survival Ascended will soon receive 2 maps and a new dinosaur and even the mod community can be happy.
What did fans expect from the release? With ARK: Survival Ascended (ASA), Studio Wildcard brought a revised version of their successful title ARK: Survival Evolved (ASE) to Steam in October 2023 and shortly afterwards also to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
But a few weeks before the release of the UE5 remake it was clear that the dinosaur adventure would not start with nearly as much content as was available to players in the predecessor. Shortly after the remake was first announced, there was criticism that players in ASA did not have access to maps that they had already purchased for ASE.
Now, for the first time, the developers have announced a target date for when the “new” maps will be added. The first map that fans would have liked to have had ready for release is coming with a new dinosaur in February.

February brings The Center and a feathered raptor
What content has ASA announced? ASA is scheduled to receive a content update in February. The map “The Center” will be added along with a new dinosaur.
The new dinosaur is the Gigantoraptor, a significantly larger and feathered species of raptor that will turn The Center’s food chain on its head.
In addition, ASA is scheduled to receive a comprehensive update for the Dev Kit at the end of January, with which modders can develop their works for the survival game. The update is intended to greatly improve the creation of mods and add new options.
The accompanying blog post from the developers states that with the new Dev Kit it is not only possible to create mods, but also “entire Unreal Engine games that are available in ASA”. An example is then given of a PvP arena in which Tek-Rexes could fight against Spinos.
What’s next after The Center? On April 1st, ASA will receive the desert map “Scorched Earth”, also with a new dinosaur: the Fasolasuchus.
On top of that, with the release of Scorched Earth, new structures for designing your own base, which are designed in a Western style, will also appear.
The whole thing is complemented by a DLC called “Frontier Adventure Pack”, which provides new content on the desert theme of the map. As an example, the developers cite the possibility of laying tracks and allowing trains to travel through the unforgiving desert.
