SURVEY. Emmanuel Macron’s presidential record harshly judged by the French

SURVEY Emmanuel Macrons presidential record harshly judged by the French

A clear majority of French people say they are dissatisfied with the results of Emmanuel Macron, according to the YouGov poll for Linternaute, in particular on the economic and social level.

A president in office who wishes to be re-elected is quite simply a challenge that no head of state (except during a period of cohabitation) has ever managed to meet successfully. The exercise of power makes people unpopular, and Emmanuel Macron can now measure it very concretely, a few days before the first round of the presidential election. Although the outgoing president is given a fairly good position in the voting intention surveys, the YouGov poll for Linternaute, carried out from April 4 to 5, 2022 among 1,037 people representative of the French population, shows how much the French consider its balance sheet hit hard. 64% of respondents say they are indeed “dissatisfied” with the results of the president over his five-year term, 30% say they are on the contrary “satisfied” with his action at the head of the state.

When we go into more detail, we measure that respondents are critical of Emmanuel Macron on his policy as a whole: 66% say they are dissatisfied with his economic record, 72% dissatisfied with his social action, 71% dissatisfied with his environmental report. Internationally, the French are more divided: 45% say they are satisfied and 47% dissatisfied, 8% have no opinion on the subject.

Methodology: the survey was carried out among 1,037 people representative of the French national population aged 18 and over. The survey was conducted online, on the YouGov France proprietary panel from April 4 to 5, 2022. To find out more about this study, contact YouGov here

voting intentions

If YouGov and Linternaute offer you monthly polls on the 2022 presidential election, other institutes carry out traditional surveys of voting intentions. We report the results of these studies below.

Please note that polls of the intention to vote do not constitute forecasts of the presidential election, but provide a snapshot of public opinion at a given moment, likely to evolve according to the dynamics of the campaign.
