The Ice Hockey League is on a national team break, but KooKoo hockey team in Kouvola sweats. Wednesday morning has started with a meeting and warm -up. In the gym, iron moves and shifts change.

The ice training will be in less than an hour.

KooKoo stayed on the national team break as the hottest team in the league. It is now in a 12 -match point tube, which has earned points for every match this year.

– During the November national team break, we went through a lot of things. The so -called truth was looked at the truth in the eyes and a little bit of little things were changed in our play. That’s where the gaming knot started to open, says the striker, team captain Otto Paajanen.

High -quality training

During the good period, the investment in the series has also risen. KooKoo is ranked seven and has 11 points for the league. The team has 12 regular season matches left, and spring looks good at least for KooKoo.

However, reality is understood on the team.

– With this game you play in January, a month or two ahead, it will no longer do. There must be continuous development. In the spring playoffs, every day you have to look at what can be done better than the opponent, says Paajanen.

The national team break brought a couple of rest days to KooKoo, but on Wednesday the team was training in the former model.

– The whole season has been practiced with high quality, both in and on the ice. No signs have yet been seen to lighten the training, says Paajanen.

New muscles can be found

– At first, there was a little throwing between the games, so it might have been a good game and then a weaker game in the tube. After Christmas, I have got a steady gaming and it is reflected in the statistics.

Randelin had a lower body training in the morning. According to him, it is a special training in skating. The physics coach has refined suitable and developing movements, and for this season, Randelin has been able to try a few new stores.

Does a professional athlete still have days when it feels like new muscles have been found?

– Yes, there are more and more every season. It’s a special thing, but apparently they are endless, laughs Randelin.

The SM League will continue after the national match on 11.2.2025.
