Giraffer’s intestinal flora does not seem to be affected by what they eat. Knowledge can be used to save endangered species in Africa.

When researchers at Uppsala University, among others, analyzed the connection between the intestinal flora and the food of three wild giraffe species in Kenya, it was found that the intestinal flora was mainly affected by which the species giraffes belonged to, not by what they ate.

The discovery has been published in Global Ecology and Conservation.
