LBC radio station was thrown into turmoil Sunday morning after a guest stuck himself into the microphone and refused to leave the studio. Just Stop Oil spokesman Nathan McGovern was annoyed by the station’s handling of its eco-friendly message while chatting with host Tom Swarbrick on-air.
Accusing LBC of ‘not using their massive platform’ to share the dangers of climate change, McGovern pulled a tube of glue out of his pocket. Then he stuck his left palm into the microphone.
Swarbrick, alerting the audience to what is going on in the studio, said:
“Looks like listeners wondering what the noise in the microphone was, Mr. McGovern… Did you glue yourself to the microphone? It’s amazing.”
Explaining his behavior, McGovern told Swarbrick:
“You have a big platform, you have a microphone that you can use to tell people about the situation we are in, but you do not use it. An ordinary person like me has to take the microphone and tell your audience the situation we are in. So I have to take the microphone and I have to tell people the situation we are in, because people like you won’t tell.”
After the incident, Swarbrick had to change studios to continue the program.
“DON’T WORK, YOU CAN ATTRACT MORE ATTENTION THAN TAKING YOUR HAND TO THE TABLE, ADHESIVE MR.”
