Surprise twist Harald Ostberg Amundsen leaves the Tour de Ski

Norway’s Harald Östberg Amundsen has to withdraw from the skiing Tour de Ski tour.

Norwegian Harald Östberg Amundsen has fallen ill and is withdrawing from the skiing Tour de Ski tour.

– Unfortunately, he woke up this morning with a sore throat and is on his way home, the Norwegian national team’s doctor Ove Feragen tells NRK.

Amundsen is in third place in the men’s tour. He skied to victory in the men’s 10 km (v) race on New Year’s Eve. Amundsen was also number one on New Year’s Day in the pursuit of traditional skiing.

Amundsen won the Tour de Ski at the turn of last year.

Norwegian Johannes Hösflot Kläbo is at the top of the men’s Tour and Sweden Edvin Anger is second.

The last legs of the Tour de Ski are contested in Val Fiemme. On the future Olympic tracks, the sprints of traditional skiing will be held on Friday, the combined races on Saturday and the culminating final climbs of the tour on Sunday.
