A man in his 70s is charged on suspicion of the murder of a broker of the same age in Växjö. The motive is supposed to be a property deal – and the victim was shot dead with a hunting rifle. During questioning, the suspect has confessed to the crime. – Two shots were fired from about two meters away, says Annie Runander, prosecutor. A man in his 70s was shot to death in a residential area in Växjö on 22 November. The police were alerted to shots fired near a residence, along with information about an injured man. Once there, it was found that the man was already dead. The murder suspect could soon be arrested in Tingsryd, said the police, who announced that no one was injured in connection with the arrest. – The police ordered him to lie down on the ground – which he did, says police spokesperson Robert Loeffel. During questioning, the suspect has confessed to the crime. He has had a license for six different weapons, one of which is said to have been used in the murder. Undone house deal – “feeling bad mentally” The origin of the fatal shooting is dissatisfaction with a real estate deal. Prosecutors have confirmed that the victim is a broker who sold the suspect’s property five years ago. – He has regretted his house purchase and got involved in this. He has felt very bad mentally, says Annie Runander. The affair must have taken place sometime in 2018. Five years later, the suspected murderer called his former broker with the task of issuing his revenge. – He rings the doorbell and then he shoots. It’s surprising that you can take revenge five years later, says Annie Runander. During the course of the investigation, a witness was also heard regarding his contacts with the suspect, where the focus of the questioning was about the property deal. The preliminary start date for the main hearing in Växjö district court is set for March 29.
