Support sheets, or tifos, will also be seen next summer in Turku’s football stands.
Football club FC Inter says it has reached an agreement with the police on the safe use of sheets.
Last summer, the Southwestern Finland police banned the use of sheets to be spread over the spectators at Inter and TPS home matches. According to the police’s view, the sheets have been used to cover up the use of prohibited pyrotechnic devices, torches and smoke in the stands.
FC Inter appealed the sheet ban to the Turku Administrative Court, which upheld the decision of the Southwest Finland Police. is told by the Supreme Administrative Court that an application for leave to appeal has been filed.
Director of the permit control unit, Inspectorate Harri Aaltonen confirms that common game rules have been agreed upon with the club.
– The use of support sheets is made possible under certain conditions with the event organizer’s own restrictions and measures. If the goal is reached with new security measures, there will be no need for the police to issue orders regarding the support sheets in question in the coming season, Aaltonen states.
Inter says on its website that for safety reasons, support sheets spread over the cup seats in the stands are prohibited at Veritas Stadion, which cover the spectators’ field of vision when they descend.
In addition, the organizers pay attention to the fact that tifas or banners brought into the stands do not block access to the emergency exit routes or limit the visibility of security measures into the stands.
