(Finance) – “A reopening of a semester of silent assent it’s something that I support and I believe is necessary, because one of the elements that constituted a low attractiveness of supplementary pension provisionespecially towards the younger generations, is the fact that it has not been explained well, it is not well understood”. This was said by Minister of Labor, Marina Calderone, in a press conference at Rimini Meeting.
On the pensions a “confrontation” is underway between the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Economy, but “it is normal that two ministries, which have such important portfolios and responsibilities, confront each other in view of the assessments that will lead to the drafting of the budget law“. For this reason, Calderone reiterated, there is a “open debate“because “on the one hand we need to secure the sustainability of our accounts and pension accounts” and “on the other hand we need to provide answers especially for the younger generations”.
On the supplementary pensionadded Calderone “we are making some reflections because the second pension pillar is certainly important as first level pension support“. And on this there is “a need to do a lot of promotion” and “share the path also with the trade unions and employers’ organizations”.
Then there is the theme of the bureaucracy, to understand “how to simplify all the procedures, not only those of membership but also those of management of supplementary pension funds and, above all, of cases of partial, total or early recovery and redemption of transfers to the funds”. On this topic – concluded the minister – “I confirm that we are active, reflecting and working”, although “it is still too early to say what the structure of the budget maneuver will be on the specific topic of pension advances and exits”.
