Domestic football and baseball continue on ‘s channels.
Earlier this year, and Nelonen Media agreed on the broadcast rights for selected matches of the National League, Superpesis and Veikkausliiga. The matches will now continue on ‘s channels in accordance with the three-year contract option in the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
‘s summer 2023 domestic football and baseball broadcasts reached a total of more than two million Finns on television.
– It’s great to be able to continue our well-run cooperation with Nelonen Media and sports associations. It is clear that Finns have found domestic football to pair with our channels, says ‘s head of sports rights Riku Saaranluoma.
– Thanks to this agreement, we will be able to offer the most important moments and delicacies of the women’s and men’s ball games of the summer to a wide range of Finns. Continuity gives the opportunity to build an even more impressive whole, says the head of Urheilu Joose Palonen.
Nelonen Media is also satisfied with the continuation of the cooperation.
– It is wonderful that our cooperation with will continue in the following years as well. Through the cooperation, we have been able to increase the general visibility of these series, and through this, also their interest in Ruudu. We have also found good ways of cooperation to raise the production levels, explains Nelonen Media’s sports manager Tuomas Saarela.
In the 2024 and 2025 seasons, the National League and the Veikkausliiga will each see 6–7 matches per season.
– The continuation of the cooperation between Veikkausliiga and , in addition to Ruuttu’s production unit, is a great thing for both Veikkausliiga, Veikkausliiga clubs, as well as our growing fan base. In the season that ended, we were on a very strong growth curve in terms of audience numbers in stadiums and the reach of TV productions. This agreement gives us a strong backbone in our goal to get new people interested in Veikkausliiga’s stories, personalities and experiences that our series offers to all football fans, says Veikkausliiga’s CEO. From Superpesi, channels show 5–7 matches in a season from both the women’s and men’s series. These include the matches of the month as well as the decisive final matches in September starting with the third game.
