Lukkari star Aapo Komulainen’s long contract with Manse PP makes the youngster one of Superpesis’ salary kings. Juha Puhtimäki’s career may continue in Ykköspesis.
When the men’s Superpesis season ends in Tampere on September 21 at the latest, we will start waiting for big transfer news for the 2025 season. According to Urheilu, there is no doubt about the transfer of the highest caliber: Sotkamon’s Jymyn grew up, locker star Apo From Komu21, is moving to the ranks of Manse PP on a long contract. Two baseball insider sources tell Urheilu about this.
Chairman of SuperJymy Oy, Jymy’s background company Juha Tanskanen and executive director of Manse PP Tero Rantalainen did not want to comment on the matter on Monday.
What makes the move particularly interesting is that Jymy and Manse PP are playing a very tight final series, which the Sotkamo players are leading with a 2-0 victory. Jymy, who is aiming for his 20th Superpesis championship for the first time, will try to end the series next Saturday in Tampere.
Open secret
Komulainen’s move to Manse has been a so-called public secret in baseball circles for the rest of the season. Nuorukainen’s Jymy contract ends this season.
Mutual interest in continuing his career in Tampere is also explained by the fact that Manse PP’s game director is Aapo Komulainen’s father Jani Komulainen. Lukkari’s girlfriend Saga-Angelia Raudasoja again, there are the club’s fresh women’s Superpesis gold medalists and core players.
In 2023, Aapo Komulainen, who was chosen as the Locker of the Year, locked Jymy as a champion at the age of 17 in 2020. The second championship came last fall.
Manse PP, founded in 2005, is now playing in the finals for the third time; so far, the only championship came in 2021. The club’s players have known about Komulainen’s joining for some time.
Puhtimäki to Ykköspesi?
Aapo Komulainen has been the biggest fish in baseball’s always-limited transfer market, so the star player’s price tag has also been on point. According to Urheilu’s source, Komulainen earns more than 60,000 euros per season during his three-year contract. It throws him into the income nobility of the series, including Manse PP Perttu Ruuskan and Kirin of Kempele Antti Korhonen as a result.
Also very interesting is Manse PP’s second star locker leaving Superpesis Juha Puhtimäki situation. Puhtimäki, 39, has negotiated a contract with Puna-Musti, who have risen to the second highest league level, i.e. Ykköspesis, from Helsinki.
It would be a huge profile transfer both for baseball in Helsinki and for Ykköspesis as a whole. Chairman of PuMu Juho Juhantalo on Monday neither confirmed nor denied that he had negotiated about Puhtimäki joining the club’s strength.
Men’s Superpesis 3rd final match Manse PP – Sotkamon Jymy live on TV2 and Areena on Saturday, September 14, starting at 2:45 p.m.
