Even before Marvel and DC finally shared the superhero screen, Spawn was one of the most exciting independent superheroes ever to hit cinemas. A sequel has been said to be coming for at least 21 years (via IGN). Now there is thanks to lead actor Jamie Foxx again signs of life of the spawn reboot. It should hit like the DC success Joker.
Marvel star compares his superhero horror to Joker
He revealed this to Comicbook.com:
I remember the first spawn movie. [Das Reboot] will be very special. It starts out so cool. And it’s not a huge budget, you know? This will be like Joker. Sure, the Joker is there, but actually it’s all about a man who suffers terribly. That’s how it will be with us too. Some scenes will have you thinking, “Oh man!”
The story of the reboot is not yet known. The comic book revolves around an elite soldier who reborn as a hell creature after an ambush and henceforth hunting criminals. The new film will be directed by Spawn creator Todd McFarlane.
When is Spawn with Jamie Foxx in cinemas?
It is not yet clear when the superhero horror will hit the cinemas. McFarlane is taking his time preparing, and Foxx’s cast isn’t a new development either. Should the film go into production soon, a theatrical release in early 2024 is conceivable.
