Super gross sci fi horror with a really embarrassing mistake

If you have trouble sleeping or like to stay up until the early hours, you should tune in to ZDF tonight. At 03:45 (!) John Carpenter’s brilliant sci-fi horror cracker The Thing from Another World is shown here. With the remake of the 50s film, the director has a Masterpiece with timelessly grandiose disgust effects and created a lot of excitement.

In addition to the recommendation, we explain one more below funny fact to an embarrassing mistake in German dubbing.

The Thing From Another World – Trailer (German) HD

In the German translation of The Thing, an important number is totally distorted

The film follows RJ MacReady (Kurt Russell) and eleven other members of a US research station in Antarctica to investigate a disturbing incident in which two men from a Norwegian research station have died. Soon the Americans will get it with one extraterrestrial organism to do, who can imitate humans perfectly.

In the freezing setting, Carpenter creates an engrossing sense of perpetual paranoia as the characters eventually begin to distrust each other. In addition to the charismatic Kurt Russell in the leading role, The Thing from Another World is particularly impressive because of the absolutely brilliant special effects.

The handcrafted scenes with the alien suddenly turning human bodies into monstrous abnormalities are timelessly disgusting and have lost none of their impact even today.

Incidentally, an embarrassing mistake crept into the German dubbing of Carpenter’s The Thing. While the computer screen shows in English that it would take 27,000 hours for all of humanity to be infected after first contact, the German voice translates this number with only 27 hours. But the chaos would not spread so quickly after all.
