Finland took two points in the women’s shot put at the European Athletics Championships in Munich. Silja Kosonen was Fifth with a result of 69.45 and Krista Tervo eighth with a score of 67.85.
Romania took the European championship Bianca Ghelber, whose best throw was 72.72 meters. A medal would have required 71.58, which was Italy’s by Sara Fantin bronze result. Silver went to Poland Ewa Rozanska (72,12).
The Finnish women went to the final with medal expectations, so both were a little disappointed in the interview. Understandably, the conversation quickly turned to pole vaulter Wilma Murto, who won the European championship on Wednesday night.
– I thought I would be more disappointed after that last throw. It helped that Wilma jumped so well. It’s just been watching here with my mouth open, wondering what the hell is going on here. I didn’t even have time to think about my own race after that, Silja Kosonen said in a TV interview.
– A medal of my own would not have required much. The throw felt good, but I didn’t get one really good throw, Kosonen continued.
Kosonen threw his best with his last throw. His four measured throws were around 68-69 meters. Kosonen’s record is 73.43.
The best in Tervo was already born in the second round. The three sands measured in Tervo were 67 meters long. Tervo’s Finnish record is 74.40.
– It’s sad. There were small mistakes in every throw, which ate up all the good work, Tervo said.
– Of course, the best ranking for adults in my life, so you have to be satisfied in a certain way.
