Sune’s best holiday tips can be found in Tornedalen: “Here I feel like a prince”

In times of recession, rising interest rates and increased costs, we at SVT asked for your best tips on how to spend budget holidays in Norrbotten. One person who got in touch was Sune Nilsson from Haparanda who told us about the hiking trail in Armasjärvi.

Enthusiastic hiker

A reporting team from SVT got to accompany him on an energetic hike where he shared his enthusiasm for nature in the area. He has hiked the trail several times since it was created three years ago.

– This is where I come when I want to fill up the energy depots. When I need to refuel and recharge my batteries, says Sune Nilsson.

Changing nature

The trail has a changing nature, both paths and tractor roads as well as wood chips are parts of the trail. There are also cycle paths.

Something that is unique, according to Sune Nillson, is the large cobblestone field that the ice sheets have created.

– I have never seen cobblestone fields as big as here, so that alone is worth a visit.

Opening this autumn

The hiking trail is under constant development as the association in Armasjärvi puts out new tracks and markings.

The Armasjärvileden is expected to be completely ready by the fall, when it will be inaugurated. The hiker hopes that more Norrbotten will find their way here then.

– The view here is absolutely fantastic, it’s adorable when you have your coffee and look out at the lake. It can’t get any better than that, says Sune Nilsson.

In the clip you will hear more about why Sune Nilsson hikes the Armasjärvi trail.
