(Finance) – In the month of July the sector of trucks records a slight decrease, while towed vehicles and bus remain positive. In August, trucks accentuate the negative variation, and also towed vehicles and buses reverse the trend with a double-digit decline. Analyzing the July 2024 market in detail, in the month 2,768 registration certificates for new trucks were issued (-1% compared to July 2023) and 1,433 registration certificates for new heavy trailers and semi-trailers, i.e. with a GVW greater than 3,500 kg (+6.7%), divided into 148 trailers (+12.1%) and 1,285 semi-trailers (+6.1%).

To Augustthe circulation certificates of new trucks issued are 1,393 (-45.7%), while for heavy trailers and semi-trailers they amount to 805 (-15.4%), divided into 71 trailers (-20.2%) and 734 semi-trailers (-14.9%).

In the first eight months In 2024, there were 20,928 registration certificates for new trucks, 1.8% more than in the first eight months of 2023, and 9,402 registration certificates for new heavy trailers and semi-trailers (-11.9% compared to January-August 2023), divided as follows: 934 trailers (+4.4%) and 8,468 semi-trailers (-13.4%).

For the trucksin the first 8 months of 2024, two geographical areas of the country show a positive variation: +7.6% the North-East and +0.3% the South and Islands area; on the other hand, the North-West (-0.4%) and the Central regions (-0.5%) are slightly decreasing.

For weight classesin January-August 2024, vehicles above 3.5 and up to 5 tonnes still recorded the most significant growth (+142.9%), followed by vehicles above 12.5 and up to 16 tonnes (+22%) and heavy vehicles above 16 tonnes (+0.8%). On the other hand, vehicles above 5 and up to 8 tonnes (-2.2%) and vehicles above 8 and up to 12.5 tonnes (-1.1%) recorded a slight decline.

In the first 8 months of 2024, rigid trucks grew by 5.8%, while road tractors closed at -1.7%. In the same period, construction vehicles maintained double-digit growth (+29.8%), while the variation was negative for road vehicles (-0.8%).

Analyzing the market for dietin the first eight months of 2024 the market share of electric vehicles gas is 1.9% (it was 1.9% in January-August 2023), for a total of 403 units, while the trucks electric And diesel/electric hybrids represent 0.8% of the total (it was 1.4% in the first eight months of 2023).

“The negative trend recorded in the months of July and August highlights once again the need to overcome discontinuous public policies in favor of long-term planning that enables the renewal of the freight transport fleet in Italy, which is among the oldest in Europe”, commented Luca Mrs.ANFIA delegate for freight transport.
