Zlatan Ibrahimovic has taken large amounts of knee injections to inhibit knee injuries.
It is now provoking reactions – in cycling.
– They use preparations, and it is really on the border, says professional cyclist Guillaume Martin.
When Milan had secured their first league title in eleven years, Zlatan Ibrahimovic came with a brutal recognition. He has barely played anything in the last six months, and the explanation was that he has had enormous injuries to his knee.
“It’s on the border”
Ibrahimovic said that he has barely trained with the team in the last six months, and the few innings he has actually made, he has made thanks to most knee injections and painkillers. And it is now provoking reactions in the world of cycling.
There, injections are completely forbidden, and it is believed that football should follow suit. The cyclists also mention Rafael Nadal as an example, as he also took syringes to get the feeling back in one foot.
– They are seen as heroes because they endure pain, but in reality they use drugs to do so, and it is really on the border. Winners of cycling, especially in the Tour de France, are systematically accused of doping even without substance behind it, says Guilaaume Martin to L’Équipe, according to DN.
“Then it starts to go downhill”
Cyclists believe that injuries should always heal on their own, and not as a result of preparations or injections.
– If you are injured and can not perform in our sport, then you rest a bit and come back to the next competition. Our generation of cyclists has learned the profession that way, says Kenny Elissonde, a top French cyclist.
Cyclists also believe that free interpretations of injections can lead to problems.
– It is good that the rules exist, because when you open the door for things like this, that is when it starts to go downhill. It is a gray zone, and when you get in there it is not good, says Kenny Elissonde.
