Sudan the UN envoy fears an ethnicization of the conflict

While the Security Council has failed to speak out in unity since the start of the crisis in Sudan, the UN has called on Sudanese generals at war to honor the seven-day ceasefire that began on Monday May 22 in the evening. The UN envoy to Sudan, Volker Perthes, also warned that “the growing ethnicization of the conflict risks prolonging it with implications for the region”, during a meeting of the Security Council devoted to the country.
