One and a half degrees
Why is 1.5 degrees a magical reading that is used time and time again in international climate negotiations?
Because keeping the global average temperature rise below 1.5 degrees means that our condition and life on this planet will remain somewhat tolerable or at least somehow manageable – at least better than if the global average temperature rises to two degrees or more.
In this year’s climate negotiations as well, the aim is to keep the goal of one and a half degrees alive.
