Last week, the first traitor, Marie Serneholt, was voted out. Now another traitor is smoking. Marianne Eklöf Törnblom is forced to leave “The Traitors”, but it did not come as a shock to her.
– I had already started to pack my bag a bit, the drive towards me had been going on for a long time, says Marianne Eklöf Törnblom to TV4.
It was above all a lie that brought her down. When Niklas Källner tried to find out the morning before whether Marianne was in her room the night before or not, he asked what Marianne had seen on TV the night before.
“It was the nail in the coffin for me”
She replied that she checked “Aktuellt” – but the news program was not broadcast that evening.
– I’ll give it to him. He was so happy that he put me there. You don’t know how it would have gone anyway, but it was the nail in the coffin for me, says Marianne.
– I found it very difficult to lie. I thought with my profession as an opera singer that it wouldn’t be a problem, but when suddenly it was Marianne who would lie, it became very difficult, she continues.
But she found it nice to leave and step out of the stressful role of traitor, a role that became extra stressful when the four traitors, Kelda Stagg, Thomas Bodström, Marie and Marianne, quickly fell apart.
– We weren’t a well-knit group right away. You can tell from me that I thought we would get along. But it wasn’t like that for everyone. Kelda says directly that “there is only one winner”, says Marianne.
– Marie calls them two unfaithful traitors, I call them betrayed traitors. They started the drive towards us. Sure, if you get into the game, you have to endure the game, but I didn’t think it would be like that. That was not the case last year. This year it was war from the start, she continues.
The relationship after the program
Marie and Marianne are both heard and seen after the program. But the other two traitors, Kelda and Thomas, Marianne has no contact with.
– We had a mingling after the first episode, but Thomas wasn’t there then so I haven’t met him, and I haven’t contacted him. But Kelda was there, but Kelda is the one… Thomas was more fun to argue against, says Marianne.
If Marianne had had to do something differently, she would have been tougher, not least towards the people who tried time and again to put her down.
– There were participants who could not keep apart that it is a game, even a game has rules. I don’t have to say any names, if you’ve seen the show you’ll understand.
