The Orange Lionesses started the World Cup well with a 1-0 victory over Portugal yesterday. The success of Dutch football women does not come out of the blue, as can be seen in an exhibition at the Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision in Hilversum. Gien van Maanen, from Utrecht and the first goalkeeper of the unofficial Dutch women’s team from 1956, plays a major role in the mini-exhibition.
