Success for Victor Johansson – set a new Swedish record and world year best

Sweden’s Victor Johansson showed a good form before the short track World Cup, which will be decided in mid-December.

At a Grand Prix event in Espoo, Finland, he won the 800 m freestyle in a time of 7.33.01. With that, he beat his own Swedish record by a full eleven seconds. The time is also the best in the whole world so far this year.

But Victor Johansson describes that it became a drama.

– Five minutes before the start, I would correct the equipment one last time. Then the unthinkable happened:

– I tore the waistband of the swimming trunks and had to run to my bag and managed to get another pair of swimming trunks on. The adrenaline was pumping and maybe that was what made the race so good, says Johansson to the Jönköping Simsällskap, the association he belongs to.
