Subject of the philosophy baccalaureate what will be the subjects

BAC PHILO 2022. The philosophy test is no longer the first one faced by baccalaureate candidates, but it remains one of the most feared. What subjects are likely to fall? How is the test going? We answer your questions.

The baccalaureate would not be the baccalaureate without the philosophy test. This year the test is scheduled for Wednesday June 15, 2022 and is no longer the first written baccalaureate exam, candidates first rubbing shoulders with the specialty tests between May 11 and 13. Nevertheless, it remains an emblematic meeting of the exam session. Despite the reform of the bac, the philosophy test does not change its formula: a four-hour written exam during which candidates compose on an essay or a text study.

Unlike the specialty tests, no adjustment is planned by the Ministry of National Education. The candidates will still have the choice on the subject to be treated since, as tradition dictates, three subjects, each on different themes, will be submitted to the high school students, which already gives the candidates more chances of success. While many plan to take the philosophy test “by talent”, relying on revisions is a safer way to get a good grade. But how to prepare for the philosophy test? What topics are likely to fall? Where should revisions focus? Linternaute.com provides you with all the details and advice on the 2022 baccalaureate philosophy test.

When does the philosophy test take place?

The philosophy test used to launch hostilities for the baccalaureate by being the first test to pass. Since the reform of the baccalaureate, the game has changed and this honor goes to the specialty tests set from May 11 to 13. Candidates for the 2022 baccalaureate will therefore be assessed in philosophy on Wednesday June 15 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

What subjects will fall on the 2022 baccalaureate philosophy test?

The philosophy program includes no less than 17 concepts: art, happiness, conscience, duty, the state, the unconscious, justice, language, freedom, nature, reason, religion, science, technique, time, work, truth. All are likely to be the subject of the philosophy test and must therefore be included in revisions. But even philosophy professors agree that it helps to prioritize some topics over others. Asked by AnnabacCaroline Verleyen and Charlotte Noirot-Nérin, associate professors of philosophy, focus on five essential themes that can easily be linked to other more specific subjects:

  • Freedom
  • Consciousness
  • The duty
  • Nature
  • Science.

As for the more specific technical and recurrent themes in the subjects of the baccalaureate, the teachers target four themes: art, the State, time and language.

Despite the reform of the baccalaureate, the philosophy test has kept its traditional formula. Candidates will therefore have four hours to blacken their copy during the written philosophy exam. Three topics will be offered: two dissertations and one on a text study. Candidates who opt for a dissertation will have as subject only a simple question to which they will have to answer with a detailed argument and justified by references and personal knowledge. For the text study, the candidates will have to give an account of the meaning and the philosophical scope of a text signed by an author present in the philosophy program. Beware of the biggest pitfall of this exercise, considered by some to be simpler than the essay: paraphrasing the subject of the text will not be enough to pass the test.

Is there an oral philosophy test?

During the exam session, candidates take only one philosophy test and it is written. The only oral philosophy test is the one organized during the remedial session for candidates who lack a few points to obtain the bac average. High school students admitted to the remedial orals are those who have obtained an average of between 8 and 9.99 during the compulsory bac exams. For June 15, the day of the philosophy exam, you will need to bring your best pen to write your essay or text commentary because having the patter will not be useful.

For the oral philosophy test, the subject of the exam is not a secret: the candidate will be asked about the philosophical work he has studied during the year. A note written by the head of the establishment from which the candidate comes, specifying the chapters or passages studied as well as the associated questions will be given to the examiner. The high school student will then be evaluated on one of these extracts chosen by the examiner. He will have twenty minutes to prepare his presentation: an explanation and analysis of the philosophical scope of the text and possibly an answer to the question raised by the extract. The presentation should not exceed ten minutes because the last ten minutes of the oral will be reserved for an interview between the examiner and the student to complete or develop the candidate’s answer or to address other subjects of the examination program. philosophy. If the oral test of philosophy control lasts forty minutes, the oral presentation of the candidate lasts him only 20 minutes in total.

The knowledge expected during the oral test is the same as that required during the written exam. The oral format, reserved for the remedial test in philosophy, “allows the candidate, on the basis of the explanation he first proposed, to demonstrate his knowledge and his thinking skills, precisely articulated in reading and the study of the work and the themes associated with it over the course of the year”, explains the Ministry.

When will the results of the 2022 baccalaureate philosophy test be known?

Each year, the results of baccalaureate candidates are published at the same time and in 2022 they will fall on July 5. After the philosophy test, senior high school students will have to wait about twenty days before knowing their grade. Fortunately, the publication of the answers, generally on D-day or the days following the test, will give an idea of the quality of the work rendered and therefore of the mark obtained. You will be able to find the answers to the proofs as soon as they are published on Linternaute.com. Note that in philosophy, the work of argumentation is as, if not more, important than the answer itself.
