BAC LLCER 2023. English, Spanish, Italian or German, the specialty test “Languages, literatures and foreign and regional cultures” takes place on Tuesday March 21. Program themes evaluated by language, subjects and answers from last year… Here are some elements to prepare you for it.
[Mis à jour le 10 mars 2023 à 16h20] So, ready for the LLCER exam for the 2023 baccalaureate, which takes place on Tuesday March 21? But on which program is the language, literature and foreign and regional culture specialty evaluated this year? For this edition of the baccalaureate, the written test of the LLCER specialty will only relate to concepts seen in terminale, as specified by the Ministry of National Education last September. The themes of the 12th grade program on which students will be assessed are detailed by language in the ministry’s letter.
Also find, via our summary above, the subjects and answer keys for the LLCER baccalaureate exam that fell last year, by way of example and annals. These topics and answers (all written by associate professors) are published in full each year on Linternaute.
What is the LLCER test in a nutshell?
During 3h30, in English, Spanish, German or Italian, the LLCER test consists of writing a synthetic commentary and translating a short extract of text. For each language, two subjects are proposed. Last year, the theme of travel returned to all tests, with the exception of the Spanish exam. Note that the LLCER exam, like each specialty test, represents a coefficient of 16 in the bac average.
Depending on whether they had chosen to follow the course in English, Spanish, Italian or German, the candidates did not have the same subjects but the exercises requested were identical: writing a summary of at least 500 words and a French translation of a text extract. Here is the full content of the tests in all languages, available thanks to our partner Studyrama.
The English LLCER Subject : the candidates had the choice between the themes “Arts and debates of ideas” and “Travels, territories, borders”. The summaries focused respectively on the impact of popular culture on society and “the call of the road” in American culture.
The Spanish LLCER Subject : the candidates had the choice between the themes “Representation of reality” and “Official culture and cultural emancipation”.
The German LLCER Subject : the candidates had the choice between the themes “Forms and foundations of social ties in the German-speaking area” and “Travel: circulation of people and ideas”.
The Italian LLCER subject : the candidates had the choice between the themes “Travel” and “Italian Laboratory”.
Foreign language teachers offered corrections for all subjects of the LLCER test. In partnership with Studyrama, Linternaute provides these corrections.

The written specialization test in Foreign and Regional Languages, Literature and Cultures lasts 3h30 this year, while the oral should last 20 minutes (the date of the oral passages is not yet known), regardless of the language evaluated. This year, the candidates have two subjects relating to two different themes of the program, which allows them to choose (knowing that three themes are studied in all).
The test is done in two parts: first, a summary in a foreign language, out of 16 points. From a corpus of documents and guided by several questions, you must write 500 words. The second exercise is a translation or transposition into French, marked out of 4 points. The statement will specify whether you must translate a passage of 600 characters from a text in the file or give an account of the overall idea of a text.
The subject rule relating to two of the three themes covered in terminale is valid for all languages. But the test of the “contemporary world English” specialty has some specificities. Indeed, a press text replaces the literary text in the synthesis. In addition, while a B2 level is required in most languages of the LLCER specialty, you must have a C1 level in English. One last point: you have the right to bring a unilingual non-encyclopaedic dictionary on the day of the test.
The foreign and regional language, literature and culture test is organized on the afternoon of Tuesday March 21, from 2 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., during the short session of specialty tests scheduled for March 20 to 22.
A priori, the results of the specialty test of Languages, Literatures and Foreign and Regional Cultures will be available on July 4, at the same time as the results of the other tests (French, Philosophy and Grand Oral). The fact that specialty lessons are evaluated earlier does not affect the publication of the results.
