A spectacular landslide occurred on Thursday evening in Isère, on the edge of the RD 1532, near the Rivière quarry, not far from Rovon. A crisis unit has been triggered.
It is not yet known at this stage whether there are any casualties. But the images are impressive and chilling. On Thursday, July 25, early in the evening, around 7 p.m., a major landslide was observed along the D1532 road in Isère. More precisely at the height of the Rivière quarry, near Rovon, reports France Bleu, which specifies that the road is known to be very busy. Enough to make local authorities fear the worst regarding the human toll. The prefecture also set up a crisis unit and emergency services were quickly sent to the scene.
On X, images of a massive section of the mountain breaking away and falling into the void were published. “A mini mountain crossed the departmental road, we now need to know if there are people still underneath”, commented to France Bleu the mayor of the commune Raymond Rolland, who also specified that “the situation is not yet stabilized” and that “blocks continue to descend”. Still according to information from France Bleu, a first landslide had been observed this Thursday, early in the afternoon. It was therefore followed later by a second, particularly spectacular one.

On local radio, locals described a sort of “earthquake”, “like the feeling that a fighter plane was flying over us”. On the road, about twenty meters of earth are now said to be stuck together. In addition to any motorists who may have been on the road at the wrong time, the authorities were also concerned about the quarry employees, who were supposed to have left around 4 p.m. on Thursday. The site manager was on site Thursday evening to ensure that everyone had left safely after their day’s work.
