The melting Greenland ice sheet will raise sea levels by at least 27 centimeters over the next 100 years, according to a new study published in the journal Nature Climate Change.
The assessment does not take into account further global warming or melting ice elsewhere.
– It is a conservative lower limit, says lead author Jason Box.
According to the study, if the annual ice melting in Greenland is as high as the record year 2012, it will raise the sea level by as much as 78 centimeters.
