Stuck on the E22 – melted snow to drink

Stuck on the E22 melted snow to drink

For about 18 hours sat Linda Karlsson stuck on the E22 in Skåne with her six-year-old and four-year-old daughter. It was after a visit to a relative in Blekinge that the family was going to get home to Skåne again that they got stuck on the E22. It was SVT Skåne first to report on.

Hundreds of motorists have been stuck for a day on the E22 – calling for food and water

Once stuck in traffic, the fuel in the car begins to run out and Linda decides to turn off the engine. At the same time, the daughters are thirsty and Linda Karlsson has to melt snow so they can have something to drink. The four-year-old daughter becomes ill and vomits repeatedly.

“I feel guilty”

The family has to spend the night in another car that is stuck in the queue so as not to freeze. Only during Thursday morning were both cars able to get out of the queue by backing out at the request of the emergency services.

– I feel guilty that we went, Linda Karlsson tells SVT.

Café along the E22 gave away buns and bread during the snow chaos

The family has to drive straight to the children’s emergency room in Kristianstad, where a doctor states that the four-year-old, who at this point had repeatedly spat in the queue, had low blood sugar. The family is now home and doing better.
