A man has been injured in a suspected explosion at a terraced house in Hässelby in northwest Stockholm at 01:30. – We have evacuated the entire row of terraced houses while the national bomb protection unit conducts an investigation, says Eva Forsström of the Stockholm police to TV4 Nyheterna. Several people in Hässelby raised the alarm about a loud bang, and when the police arrived at the scene, it was quickly established that something had detonated at a terraced house. – The facade is badly damaged and the houses in the same area also have damage. There have been people at home in the house. One of them, an adult, had to go by ambulance helicopter to hospital. He was able to talk to us, but the healthcare system has assessed that he should go to hospital for further checks, says Carina Skagerlind, press spokesperson at the Stockholm police, to TT. – There are no others that I know of who have injuries or need treatment, says Skagerlind. Is there a risk of explosion The police cannot say how powerful the explosion was. – It is difficult for me to grade, but I see from the pictures I have seen that there is serious damage to this facade. There may also be a risk of some landslides. The residents in the terraced house must be evacuated during the night. The police are looking for the perpetrators and have also collected witness information in the area. – We have checked several people. If it also led to detention, I cannot comment at the moment, says Skagerlind at around 05:00. Another blast During the night, work was underway, among other things, to investigate the motive for the suspected explosion, but the police say that it is too early to say what it might be. – We have had a wave of violence that is well known since Christmas Day, so we have both reinforcements and a large resource inside all the time to deal with this type of crime. We know that these first hours are extremely important. Just over an hour later, the police were alerted to an explosion at an apartment building in Skarpnäck in southern Stockholm. – That’s where we are now. There, the damage is not of this nature, there is more smoke development and there has been some fire in a stairwell. No one is physically injured, says Carina Skagerlind.
