It became a heated debate at times, especially due to the input of Bij1 and DENK. These parties accuse the police of acting far too violently against demonstrators who, in their view, were protesting in a peaceful manner. The two parties received support from Student & Starter, the Party for the Animals and GroenLinks. In addition to DENK and Bij1 standing up for the demonstrators, they also unconditionally side with the demonstrators in the social debate: the Palestinians are the victims and Israel is the perpetrator. Comments from other politicians that the battle between the terrorist organization Hamas and the Israeli government, and the underlying history, is much more complex than imagined, fell on deaf ears.
