After the terrorist act in Brussels on Monday evening, a post was published on X by serving Member of Parliament Jessica Stegrud (SD). Soon after, the post was removed, but now sharp criticism is being directed at the Member of Parliament.
– It is a terrible message that has a significant lack of judgement, says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) to TV4 Nyheterna.
Swedish Football Association chairman Fredrik Reinfeldt was given police protection and escorted out of the arena after two Swedes were shot dead in Brussels. The others had to stay in the arena until late at night. Reinfeldt’s police protection was criticized by Sweden Democrats member of parliament Jessica Stegrud on X, formerly Twitter.
“Reinfeldt gets a police escort out of the arena – after two (probably) Swedish football fans have been killed by Islamists. He, if anyone, should have been forced to remain without any police protection whatsoever.
Stegrud continues:
“My thoughts go out to those killed and their relatives. My contempt goes to all the politicians – including FR – who laid the foundations for this”.
Strong reactions flared up and she removed the post from X shortly afterwards.
Strong reactions
Other politicians also comment on Stegrud’s post.
– I understand that there will be strong reactions. It is a terrible message that has a significant lack of judgement, says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) to TV4 Nyheterna.
Regarding the cooperation between the parties, he does not really want to answer, but presses Stegrud’s content.
– I note that this Member of Parliament spoke out in a way that was appalling in its content, he says.
“There must be consequences”
Magdalena Andersson (S) also sharply criticizes the post that Stegrud published on the Monday after the terrorist attack in Brussels.
– It’s terrible. It is basically a threat to Fredrik Reinfeldt and to the decisions he made, says Magdalena Andersson (S) to TV4 Nyheterna.
She further says that this in turn is also directed at Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) as he sat in the same government and made the same decision as former Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt. Andersson now hopes that the prime minister will act.
– This cannot go unnoticed. It must have consequences for Jessica Stegrud.
At the press conference on Tuesday, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) received questions about the statement.
– This is not the time for carelessness. It was an injudicious way of expressing himself. It is something that the Sweden Democrats can comment on, says the prime minister.
TV4 Nyheterna is looking for Jessica Stegrud for a comment.
