Germany’s government has pushed through a plan for more liberal cannabis legislation.
The hope is to eliminate the illegal drug trade, protect consumers from contaminated products and reduce drug-related crime.
– They say that criminalization doesn’t help, people do it anyway, says Sveriges Radio’s correspondent in Berlin Hansjörg Kissel.
The government’s proposal has received harsh criticism, including from the Medical Association and the police.
