Strong co-op game on Steam is like the weather right now, but with zombies

The Steam Summer Sale 2024 is currently underway and there are some bargains to be had again. A co-op game with zombies adapts to the local weather and gives you a holiday feeling in LA and lots and lots of weapons.

What game is it? Dead Island 2 was released in 2023 and it was a miracle that the game was even released after 9 years of development.

  • Dead Island 2 is a co-op zombie game.
  • In LA you complete missions for survivors because the apocalypse has already broken out.
  • There are a lot of weapons for defense, both close and long-range.
  • Crafting and upgrading weapons is a central gameplay aspect.
  • The game has detailed gore effects.
  • Dead Island 2 is, unlike other zombie games, a game that doesn’t take itself too seriously. It takes many well-known clichés and ridicules them. You can find a trailer for the game here:

Dead Island 2 has a fairly simple story, but parodies many familiar LA cliches in side quests and the environment. You meet Hollywood stars or an influencer’s house full of protein powder and apology scripts for videos.

But Dead Island 2’s main focus is on its gameplay. If you have a weak stomach, you should avoid the game because there is a lot of blood and gore. You chop your way through hordes of zombies and use all kinds of utensils.

The focus is mainly on melee weapons that can be upgraded with various gadgets. For example, you can upgrade weapons with fire or electricity, which changes the way you fight the zombies.

You can and should do all of this in co-op with friends for maximum chaos and fun. Cross-progression and cross-play are not available with the console versions. On the PC, however, users can play together on Epic and Steam.

How expensive is Dead Island 2 currently? On Steam, the game costs 50% less as part of the Summer Sale, i.e. €29.99. You can get the game at a discount until July 11, 2024.
