    The Swedish Armed Forces confirm to Aftonbladet that a Russian aircraft without a transponder flew south of Skåne during the day.

    The last member of the Canadian-American rock band The Band has passed away, reports the Toronto Star newspaper.

    Keyboardist and saxophonist Garth Hudson was 87 years old.

    Hudson fell asleep in a nursing home in Woodstock, New York, his executor confirmed to the newspaper.

    Hudson was born in Windsor, Ontario, but grew up in London in the same Canadian province.

    According to the Toronto Star, Hudson was recruited by Ronnie Hawkins and Levon Helm in 1961 to join the band The Hawks – the forerunner of The Band – which also served as Bob Dylan’s touring band in the 1960s. The group also collaborated with Bob Dylan on several studio albums.

    The debut album as The Band, “Music from big pink”, from 1968, established them as one of the top rock bands of the time, writes Variety.

    Israel’s army chief Herzi Halevi announces that he will resign on March 6, reports The Jerusalem Post.

    The reason is the failure of the Israeli military on October 7, 2023, when the terror-labeled Hamas attacked Israel, he writes in a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz.

    Death toll after fire rises sharply: Over 60 dead

    More than 60 people have died in a fire at a hotel in the ski resort of Kartalkaya in northern Turkey.

    The fire broke out in the hotel’s restaurant on Tuesday night, according to the country’s interior minister Ali Yerlikaya. More than 50 people are said to be injured.

    – I can’t find any of my students. I hope they are okay, says a ski instructor to the privately owned television channel NTV.

    According to Governor Abdulaziz Aydin, two people died after jumping from the building in panic.

    It is unclear what caused the fire, which occurred during a school holiday when hotels in the area are generally fully booked. Kartalkaya around 30 miles east of Istanbul is a popular ski resort located in the Köroglu mountain range.
