In the news in Israel Hayom newspaper, it was noted that the Israel Land Authority will seize the land of UNRWA’s headquarters in East Jerusalem.
“PROJECT IS IN PREPARATION STAGE”
It was stated that 1440 illegal houses were planned to be built on the seized land and the project was in the preparation phase. UNRWA and Israeli officials have not yet made a statement regarding the news.
UNRWA, which has a key role in aiding Palestinian refugees, especially in the Gaza Strip, has been the target of the Israeli administration since the attacks on October 7, 2023.
“EMPTY WITHIN 30 DAYS” WARNING
The Israeli press wrote at the end of May that the Tel Aviv administration asked UNRWA to evacuate its headquarters in East Jerusalem within 30 days.
UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini, in his statement at the UN Security Council yesterday, stated that Israel’s legislative proposal to ban UNRWA was against international law.
Pointing out that there would be very serious consequences if the bill was accepted, Lazzarini also warned that it could set a very serious precedent.
