While the joint joint committee has agreed on a common version of the text of the pension reform, the opponents intend to maintain their mobilization. In the schools, some unions are talking about continuing the movement after the March 15 strike.
There mobilization day against the pension reform, the eighth since January, gathered a little more people in the cities of France, compared to Saturday March 11. In Paris, for example, the CGT counted 450,000 demonstrators, while the authorities counted 37,000. National Education and Youth participated at their level in the interprofessional strike, even if the disturbances made less noise than during the previous movements. The senators and the deputies gathered succeeded in reaching an agreement on a common text for the pension reform, which will be the subject of a final vote on Thursday, March 16 in the Assembly. They also voted for the extension of the legal retirement age to 64. A decision which does not seem to impact the opponents of the reform, given that certain sectors of activity have already announced further disruptions to come. On the school side, some teachers’ unions are already looking into the issue of a movement renewable after March 15.
Towards new strikes in schools after March 15?
In National Education, the mobilization could continue after March 15. The subject is in any case posed by certain unions, such as the FNEC FP-FO which calls on the personnel “to be discussed in all schools, establishments, services, universities… renewal of the strike Thursday March 16 and Friday March 17!“, can we read in a union statementpublished on March 14.

How did the March 15 school strike go?
There day of march 15 mobilized National Education staff in different cities, but much less than during the March 7 strike. The Ministry of National Education has not communicated on the participation rates. In some schools, teachers were on strike this Wednesday, March 15 and some took part in the demonstrations. Of the extracurricular services, canteens, nurseries and school transport lines were also disrupted. However, overall the disturbances were less significant.

Why are teachers against pension reform?
In National Education, opponents of pension reform are numerous.
