In Denmark, for the past couple of weeks, among other things, stronger border controls and surveillance have been introduced. But now they are also putting pressure on Swedish politicians to act.
On Wednesday, Sweden’s Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) and national police chief Petra Lundh will go to Copenhagen to discuss the matter.
Swedish criminals in Denmark
This is what our neighbors think of Swedish crime: “Not the Swedes’ fault”
This is how the gang war in Denmark is controlled by the Swedish gang leaders
– We will jointly discuss efforts to push back the development that affects citizens in Denmark and Sweden, says Gunnar Strömmer (M) in SVT’s Aktuellt.
Increased pressure on the tech giants
The number of children under the age of 15 who are suspected of involvement in murder plans has more than tripled since last year, according to new figures from the Public Prosecutor’s Office. As SVT’s review earlier this week showed, a large part of the recruitment of young perpetrators of violence takes place on social media and in encrypted chats.
Gunnar Strömmer admits that part of the fight against serious crime is about putting pressure on the tech giants.
– It is something we will discuss tomorrow, me and my Danish colleague, says Strömmer.
The Social Democrats’ legal policy spokesperson Ardalan Shekarabi (S) believes that more than discussion should be done on that front. He says that concrete legislation is required, both nationally and in the EU:
– I think there have been too many meetings and it’s time we use the tools we actually have, he says.
– The companies must take their responsibility. They must be forced to take responsibility.
