Streamer complains about 20% less salary – normal earner contradicts, because he freaks out

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The German streamer ELoTRiX became a phenomenon on the Internet years ago thanks to its angry speeches. Now he talked about the fact that Twitch wants to cut 20% of his earnings in the future. But with that he met with a lack of understanding from a normal earner and suddenly the old ELoTRiX was back.

How did ELoTRiX make a name for itself?

  • The 29-year-old Twitch streamer was one of the first big shooter YouTubers in Germany in 2011.
  • At that time he was known for “commentary videos”: The gameplay was Call of Duty, but the YouTuber told a story from his life, often increased and got slightly out of control.
  • The streamer has always had an excellent speech melody, even if he likes to slip into vulgarity and scream.
  • If ELoTRiX hadn’t disappeared into oblivion for a long time, he would have had a similar career as his friend “MontanaBlack” has had in the last 10 years:

Normal earners have no understanding for complaining from Twitch streamers

What is ELoTRiX upset about now? Large Twitch streamers like ELoTRiX currently still get 70% of their income on Twitch. From June 2023, their share will drop to 50% – the rest will be kept by Twitch. The live stream website is part of the Amazon group.

In one of his Twitch streams, ELoTRiX explains that it’s like an employer telling you: In nine months you’ll get 20% less salary. Because the employer would now prefer to put the money in his own pocket.

But in the chat, a user wrote; “Bro, you can’t do that compared to our measly 2k a month.”

And suddenly the old ELoTRiX was back. Pointing his index finger at the camera, he exclaimed: “Yes, I can compare that, Tomahawk! Don’t make me aggressive.”

In a 30-second rant, the 29-year-old streamer got excited: The “boss’s money-hungry son of a bitch” would not put the retained money into the employees’ pensions or into better devices, but “ZAPPZARAPP” into his own pocket.

This is about making the “fat asses” of Amazon shareholders even richer. “My colleague Schuetzschuh” should understand that.

Is he right? Well, it has to be said that Twitch streamers, even if they like to think of it that way, are not Twitch employees, but self-employed people who use Amazon’s streaming platform. Although they have exclusive contracts, they enjoy freedoms that employees of a company do not have.

In the ELoTRiX stream, for example, the advertisement for “YFood” is shown – so he also has private sponsor deals going, which he advertises via Twitch, but with which Twitch probably has nothing to do.

According to Twitch, providing bandwidth for just 30% of revenue just doesn’t pay off. You’ve calculated it, it doesn’t work, so you have to increase the prices.

The annoyance of ELoTRiX is still understandable.
