Stray review

In our Stray review content, we take a look at the general dynamics and story of the game where we control a cat.

Stray review: Today we are here with a game that we have been waiting for a long time. Stray, which is given free of charge through the Playstation Plus service, leaves us in control of a coiled cat. A post-apocalyptic scenario was handled in the game and it was tried to convey to the players how interesting it would be to control a cat in this scenario. So, is the game, which is expected from the first announcement video and looks pretty cute, really as cute as it seems? Let’s see together.

Stray review (Video)

Stray takes place in a Cyberpunk world. When we start the game, we control one of the members of a group of cats. After a short practice phase, at the very beginning of the game, we part ways with the group and find ourselves in a small abandoned city.

This is the area where most of the game takes place, I don’t want to give spoilers, but it was established as a shelter for people due to an event. So there is an outside world, and we are trying to return to this outside world, where we came from, to our other feline friends. New characters and stories accompany us on this journey.

This small city and some of the regions we will visit afterwards appear as places where robots live. It is depicted that after the disappearance of humans, robots also lost their purpose and led a casual life. While some find their own purpose, others have come to the point of bursting with boredom. So much so that you even meet the robot character who knits a long braid for miles out of boredom.

This mood of the robots has been incredibly sweet and it is a pleasure to follow their behavior and even talk to them. These other characters and their stories have really added flavor to the game. Some small dialogues are repetitive, but in general, there are very successful little stories.

We control a sarman type cat in the game. This cat has no superpowers or supernatural abilities. An ordinary cat we know. Of course, when we are in control, it falls to us to do the task and research the surroundings. But after a certain period of time, we also put aside our duties and chase after mischief like a cat. You are chasing after a ball you see, scratching your nails on the carpets and walls, or you enjoy messing around.

As well as the linear parts of the game, there are also parts where it leaves you completely free. In these parts, you explore the surroundings and perform mini-quests that will help both the story and other characters. This quest operation is not branched out much, which saves the game from being a stunner. In other words, instead of running around for minutes, you do the tasks with some ideas.

In this story, the dialogue process and clues are loaded into a tiny robot named B12. This robot, which we encountered at the very beginning of the story and is in our backpack, acted as a kind of intermediary both in missions and in all kinds of events we encountered. In other words, he acts as a mediator between our little cat and us, as with other characters in the game. This process has been pinpointed because you learn more details about the world you are in.

The story of the game is already built on an element of curiosity. Exploring around is very enjoyable. Moreover, all the details such as why the world has become this way and how the parasites you encounter come about are transferred to the player little by little with this method. You want to talk to all the robots you see and learn their story.

Yes, although our story is sweet or sweet, there is also a type of parasite that we encounter. Although this encounter is usually in the type of cat chase, after a while we also get a technology that we can defeat them. The B12, which already acts as a flashlight, also hosts this new weapon.

The general operation of Stray is based on platform dynamics. Like a cat, you go out wherever you can, poking your head into all the holes you can get in. The lack of free jumping in the game at first bothered me, but after a while I didn’t feel this deficiency. Because if jumping was free, I would probably have to struggle for minutes on every obstacle I encountered.

However, in some cases, you cannot jump to the places you want to jump, or in some cases, camera problems or bugs in the game can put you in a dead end. Before I forget, I should also mention that the game is in Turkish. Moreover, a beautiful translation was signed.

As a result, Stray is a completely distracting production with its gameplay, world and music. It has a gameplay and story presentation that will not tire you much. Moreover, it makes you wonder about the details of the story, and unlike many games, you enjoy exploring the surroundings and talking to other characters. If you like this kind of games, I can say that you will find exactly what you expect from Stray with its 6-7 hour story.
