“This adaptive and accessible fitness equipment at both the Stratford and St. Marys YMCA locations will ensure everyone in our rural communities can remain active.”

The OTF’s capital grant stream helps to improve the infrastructure for residents to remain active and participate in community initiatives. Funded projects, whether it’s purchasing equipment, building a new space, or completing renovations, retrofits or repairs, improve access to facilities, programs, activities and services and make better use of technology.

“Non-profit organizations across Ontario deliver programming that makes a difference — whether it’s helping people train for new careers, learn new things, or simply connect with those around them,” Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport Neil Lumsden said. “That’s why capital grant support is so important. This funding will help ensure these spaces remain the heart of communities across our province.”

Stratford and St. Marys YMCA operational manager Jay Colquhoun said the organization is grateful for “OTF’s support to increase the accessible fitness options for seniors, those living with disabilities and chronic conditions. This funding will ensure that we can provide more inclusive services to members of our communities, helping them to achieve their individual health goals safely.”

More information and a full list of capital grant stream recipients can be found on the OTF’s website.
