Now in its 10th year, the wall of fame has recognized the contributions of 21 people from Perth County who have made remarkable contributions to agriculture. The wall of fame also recognized seven charter members, all from Perth County, who are also in the Ontario Agriculture Hall of Fame.

“We’re looking for people who have made remarkable contributions to agriculture or the farming industry in Perth County. …It’s a really wonderful thing. We hear an awful lot about the stars of the town and the festival city, but having just a minute to go and speak with people about what they do in agriculture and for how long, their contributions can be manifold and super interesting,” museum general manager Kelly McIntosh said.

This year, for example, the museum induced Dennis Nuhn, the third generation to own and operate globally respected manure management-equipment manufacturing and design company Nuhn Industries in Sebringville. In 2022, the wall honored Antony John and Tina Vandenheuvela Sebringville-area husband and wife who founded an organic farm operation, Soiled Reputation, in 1993 that grew to become one of the largest certified organic market gardens in the country.

“We’re trying to illuminate all the different folks who get up to interesting things, and also those who have a tremendous history of agriculture in the area,” McIntosh said.

In addition to honoring the 2024 inductees or inductees at the Stratford Rotary Club’s annual Rural Urban Dinner on April 18, 2024, next year’s honorees will also have their stories posted on the Stratford Perth Museum’s Agriculture Wall of Fame webpage at www.stratfordperthmuseum.ca/stratford-perth-museum-agricultural-wall-fame-directory. McIntosh also hopes to share their stories in the new ways this year, noting the possibility of incorporating video or podcast interviews with the inductees on the webpage.

The wall of fame is open to current or former residents of Perth County who have made outstanding contributions to agriculture in Perth County. Nominations are solicited from the public and a committee determines the honorees.

To nominate someone, visit the wall of fame webpage and download the nomination form.
