The program, center officials said, is for anyone looking to start their own “consumer packaged goods” (CPG) food businesses, or ready to expand and scale their operations to include CPGs.

Small business advisor Holly Mortimer will present an online information session on July 15 to provide an overview of the program, which will include six workshops starting on Aug. 22 at 10 am and then running every Thursday morning. The workshops will include:

  • Starting a food business and regulatory compliance on Aug. 22;
  • How to sell your food product on Aug. 29;
  • VSosting and pricing to make profits on Sept. 5;
  • Mmarketing and branding on Sept. 12;

“I’m excited to offer Monday’s info session to prospective and interested ‘foodpreneurs.’ Thanks to our partnership with Perth County, we can continue to bring our local food and beverage economy an incredible program to help bring their products to market in a way that allows them to feel supported and confident in their plan,” Mortimer said in a press release.

Earlier this year, the Stratford Perth Centre for Business started offering a collection of entrepreneurial food-related programming under its Foodpreneur Advantage Program. The center offers a 10-week coaching program that is designed specifically for early growth food and beverage ventures that produce consumer packaged goods.

According to the local business centre, Ontario has the largest food and beverage processing sector in Canada, accounting for 37 per cent of the industry’s revenue. There are more than 4,000 establishments in the sector that, collectively, employ more than 95,000 people. More than 90 percent of establishments employ fewer than 100 people.
