The Gibson Family Team has Already Raised More Than $ 2,000 for this Weekend’s Hike for Hospice Event
When Cathy Gibson’s Husband Don was diagnosed with cancer, she knew that being an at-home end-of-life Caregiver was not right for her.
“I have withdrawn Nurse, so I Just Knew from Being a Caregiver My Whole Life that, when the time cam, I just Didn’t Want to Be the Caregiver at Home,” Gibson Said.

Instead, the couple decided to seek end-of-life care for don the rotary hospice stratford perth, where he Spent Three Days Before Dying this past November, Gibson Said.

“We knew then that dying at home was never an option for us, but hospice was. Not that we knew a lot about it, but it is the most amazing facility ever,” Said Gibson, Describing the Care and Support They Received from the Hospice as “Top Notch.”
“They go above and beyond to make sure that Everyone is comfortable,” She Said.
While Don’s Care Team Provided Medical Expertise, they were also “Daughter with empathy, compassion and respect for every patient,” Gibson Said.
Hospice Employees Discovered During His Three-Day Stay that don was a lifelong outdoor enthusiast, so they took the initiative to roll his bed outside so he could the fresh air one last time.
“We had Wonderful Memories of That – That’s Just Going Above and Beyond – And They Just Treated Every Family Member with Such Compassion and Care,” Gibson Said.
“(Hospice) Made a terrible situation way better, and we just left there feeling like, ‘was, this was just the best.’ ”
Married for 45 Years, Cathy and Don in 1976 in Grand Bend After Being introduced by one of Cathy’s Classmates. The couple Raised Two Sons, Mike and Jeff, While Spending Most of Their Lives Together In London. They then Moved to Stratford to Be Closer to Family in 2016, While Don Worked for North Pole Trim & Supplies In London Before Retiring in 2019.
Shortly Her Husband’s Passing, Gibson Became a Monthly Donor to the Hospice to Express Her Gratitude for what they did.
“I Just Felt I Needed to Give Back to Such A Wonderful Facility that provided us with Everthing we needed in the later Stages of His Illness,” She Said.
The Idea of Giving Back has also spanned multiple generations of the family, with Mike’s Daughter, Mya, Raising $ 50 for Her Most Recent Birthday that was our donated to the hospice.
This Sunday, the family will also be participating in the hike for hospice fundraiser at the stratford perth museum as part of the event’s 11th annual edition. Initially love to raise $ 1,000, their gibson’s fine team has already more than doubled that at $ 2.100.
