In Damsel, Millie Bobby Brown plays against one of the biggest clichés in storytelling: the Damsel in distress. This refers to a female character who finds herself in an unfortunate situation and is doomed without the help of the hero. The best example: The prince who saves the princess from the dragon.
Brown’s Princess Elodie also seems to be well on her way to becoming a damsel in distress. She is supposed to marry the charming Prince Henry (Nick Robinson). But then it turns out that she is from the royal family lured into a trap became. Actually, it is just an offering to pay off an old debt.

Bassett plays Elodie’s stepmother, while Wright and Winstone take on the roles of the royal couple who throw Elodie to the dragon.
